Public Health

Deepika Unnayan Sangstha places public health awareness at the very bedrock of its mission for the promotion of long-term health and wellbeing within communities. Integrate public health education into its varied activities; DUS shall maintain a very close monitoring on data of impact so that it is able to respond in a dynamic way to the changing needs of the areas it serves. What is more, DUS conducts targeted health screenings and informational sessions specifically for women, adolescent girls, and pregnant women, aiming to foster informed decision-making and proactive health management. In addition, the organization supports breastfeeding practices by providing lactation support through local immunization clinics, realizing the critical benefits to maternal and child health.

Knowing full well the significance of environmental cleanliness in disease control, DUS has been at the forefront in spearheading anti-spitting and anti-littering campaigns in villages, with the key objective being to cultivate community-wide responsibility in sanitation and hygiene. As a holistic approach, DUS has successfully facilitated the installation of 100 percent clean sanitation facilities across five villages by freely distributing sanitary latrines. The organization further contributes to this effort with the education of community members in necessary hygiene practices that include handwashing, among others, to completely minimize health risks.

DUS stepped up efforts during the times of COVID-19 by creating awareness on risks, prevention, and treatment related to COVID-19. Working closely with the government at the local health services departments, DUS effectively relays important health campaigns and often ensures optimal outreach and impact. Through these multi-faceted initiatives, Deepika Unnayan Sangstha continues to firm its commitment to the betterment of public health outcomes in Bangladesh and the promotion of resilient communities.
